Gymnatics Starting Again

I have just emailed the Gym, asking if I can come back to continue working out with the team.

I am planing because I have been trying to call them and get in contact but I have given up and am just emailing them because that seemed to work the best last time

And I am preserving because I stopped and now i am picking it up again!

Rebounding Class

Today I went to the gym and participated in a Rebounding Class. This class is like a dance kind of work out Class but on mini Trampolines. I liked it but me being tall and having strong legs made me be out of time because i jump to high. I don't know if I will go back to this class mainly because normally i cant make it due to school, but it was fun, but really hard.

I undertook new challenges because its a new class and it was hard

I developed new skills because I have never tried to dance on a trampoline before

Just an Update

While doing my Tok Homework which is a blog I realized that I need to post an update. I must admit, my CAS has really slowed down since soccer has ended. But I am going to call up Cape Cod Gymnastics Club tomorrow to see If I can go back and continue that activity. Not only will that be another activity but it will also help me with another thing that I am going to propose. I am going to propose getting in shape. Not really for anything in particular but in College I want to go out for the soccer team and I need to be in the Best Shape that I Have ever been in before for that to happen I must start working out now! also I want to be in good shape for costa rica in February.
Another thing, I have been participating in a Chem Club type thing which I will Propose as well. This is to help get ready for IB exams.
Also I am still doing the Math Competitions but they are not held all that often. So its really slowed down.

Math comp.

Last Wednesday, there was another math comp, i didn't do as well as I though. but it was still fun.I think that i only got 3 right but thats still good their are really hard.

I undertook new challenges because they are really hard.

I developed new skills because the math is tricky and now i know how to solve those problems now.

Surf Club

I made the next deposit for the trip the other day. This is making it seem more and more real!

I am showing perseverance because i said i would pay to be able to go on the trip and I am paying slowly but surly.

And also by paying fr this trip I am developing new skills by learning how to save money and also when we get to costa rica i will be further learning how to surf!

Soccer Yesterday

At soccer yesterday it was really sad because we lost the game in the last minute which meant that were not going to states. It was even harder because everyone didn't know what this game meant except for a few.

With this game i had to consider the ethical implications because i was very upset that we lost but i had to be happy for the team because even though we didn't win or tie we still played the best game of the season. Also i had to go on with the good game clap even though all i wanted to do was go home.

I also undertook new challenges because i really had to work to put on a happy face.

NEMC

Today was the new england math competition- i though that i could have done better but that is ok. I got three out of 6 correct.
I challenged my self with doing the competition also because its math that you rarely ever use. I think that their fun because they are hard problems but they are do-able
also i learned new ways to go about solving difficult math problems.

Surf Club

I Will be passing in the $200 deposit for the trip tomorrow! Im so excited to go to costa rica it will be so much fun!

Soccer

This week at soccer has been pretty good. We haven't done too much. I had to miss practice on Tuesday because of schoolwork, and yesterday we went to go watch the JV game. That was REALLY fun. i never really get a to watch the game because normally I'm playing for the whole time, or trying to get back into the chane game. So i really enjoyed it. Today practice got canceled because of inclement weather. There is supposed to be a game tomorrow in P-town but its supposed to be very bad weather, so we will see.

I have been working collaboratively with others because its a team and also because I'm captain.

ALS Walk

On Saturday September 26 I went on a Walk for ALS it was a 3.7 mile walk. It was really fun! it rose awareness for ALS as well as it helped raised money. I was not able to raise any money but i think the most important part was just the group of us walking down the road. It made just the drivers stop and notice the crowd and maybe they'll donate money to cause.

This is an important cause to me because one of my friends fathers died of ALS when my friend was only four years old. So I was really happy to choose.

This activity covers, Engaged in actives of global importance because ALS effects people from all over the world, and this disease is one of the worst in the world, it slowly stops all of your muscles so you end up dieing because you can no longer breathe because you lungs are a muscles as well.

ALS Walk

I have signed up to do an ALS walk this saturday to help raise money for ALS.

This is considering the ethical implications because I hope that with the money that i help raise, it will help find a cure. This is very important to me because one of my friends fathers died at a very young age to ALS when my friend was still very young.

This also is a global importance because when they find a cure it will help people all over the world.

Soccer 9-18

So far this week soccer has been easy there has been no practices which have made school a lot easier this week.

But last week was really fun! the week ended with a soccer game Friday night under the lights! it was really fun! and I ALMOST scored i was so close! it made me so mad that I missed it though. Before the game we did team bonding things at the school that was a new experience for me because, i am not used to being in charge like that! I'm more comfortable being the quiet one so it was defiantly undertaking a new challenge.

also I and Nikki were the ones that came up with the idea of the team bonding but i was the one that came up with the ideas to make the t-shirts! so that is planed actives

SOI

This week I went to the SOI meeting during lunch. I think that im going to be a part of the club im not sure yet i want to also try the Riverview school club as well. I'm going to wait till after soccer is over to really make a commitment because im so busy right now.

But SOI this week is considering the ethical implications because its all about organic food and how it could be better for you and how, Oranic food is better for the enviroment.

Soccer 9-18

So far this season has started off good! Being a captain is more responsibility that i knew about and thats why its a new challenge. I have to be at everything, and I'm the one that needs to talk to the girls if they are having a bad day and what not so it not just as easy as in past when i can just show up to practice and play and have fun but its still really fun im really liking soccer this year! As a result I am working collabertly with others because i have to be im captain.

So far this week has been a good week. We have had one game this week and we had one game last week also. We lost both of them but we are imporving a lot. We have a big game tonight under the lights at Old Town House against P-Town and I think that we are going to win. Im hoping that we do anyway!!

Soccer this season!

Today at practice coach announced captains!!! me and Nikki are captains together! which is really good! im really excited about it.


but anyway soccer this season has been going well so far. i like the new kids that are coming to the them and also! one good thing for me is that the summer league that i played in according to coach helped me out a lot, and it makes sense playing with people that are much better pull you up to their level in a sense.

we had a scrimmage against Pope John Paul the other day and we won by a lot which is to be expected, they are middle schoolers with no real soccer program but i think it was a good thing to do because, it showed the new players how to play and were to be.

I have undertaken new challenges, because I'm now a captain.

Also i have shown perservence because this is my fourth year on this team and a lot of the players who were freshmen with me are no longer on the team.

Mock Disaster in Maine

Today was the mock disaster in Maine. it was really fun! what happened was we all got up early and went to the community center/fire department to get make-up and get our assignments. I got to have a open are fracture, cut of my face and a hurt back. my assessment was to lay on the dock in servere pain from my arm and back. then we road down to the dock in ambulances which was fun because i had never been in one before. once everything started happening i was one of the first ones to get saved so they brought be back to the fire station in the ambulance again but this time on a body board and the whole deal. then we road back to the dock because there was no body at the fire station. all in all it was really fun and i think that it did help out the rescue men because this was a trial run where nothing was really serious for them to try to figure out what they would do if a big boat did crash into a dock while there are a bunch of kids around during a sailing lesson.

Planned: I helped plan this activity because i called up the fire department and told them that i would like to help out.

Consider ethical: this is a big one for consider the ethical implications. its important because if the fire department didn't put this on then the rescues would be going on nothing when something major like this does happen. they will have no trials and errors to go on. after all of this happened i heard that htey went back to the fire station and discussed what happened and how everything went, making decisions on how to do stuff better when everything is for real

Mock disaster in Maine

This saturday there is going to me a mock disaster, i just signed up and now i just need to wait till Saturday. whats going to happen is there going to pretend a big boat ran into the dock and crashed and sunk during a sailing lesson. what im going to do is still a little bit unclear, but i do know that i will be made up with make up and stuff to look like i had serious injuries, and also they are going to take some people to hospital in ambulances, and they are going to land a helicopter on the town green. (this is all very exciting for this town because its so small, about 300 people live here year round. and only 4 business)

Soccer this summer

I haven't been able to play in the league for the past 2 weeks because we went of a family vacation up to Sorrento Maine. And the week before that i was not able to play due to injuries that i got from gymnastics. I just submitted the adult supervisor form, because now the season is over.

Throughout the season i developed new skills because i was playing with people who were much better than i was, now im excited to show my school coach my new soccer skills.

Also i undertook new challenges because i had never played at this level of soccer before.

Tuesday july 2

Gymnastics 7-15

Okay so this week at gymnastics was really fun!!! ( I didn't go last week because i couldn't get a ride home) But yesterday at gymnastics i started to learn how to do a back flip. what i was doing were drills to get it. what i would do is jump then land on my back and then on the rebound bounce i would flip over and land on my feet. It was really fun i did other drills also but i had the most fun with that one!!!
then i did some stuff on beam like trying to do a handstand but i stubbed my toe REALLY bad so now today it hurts to walk. so i got out of doing beam which is my least favorite of the events and then i went to vault which is really fun! probably my favorite. on vault i did the same thing that i did a few weeks ago where you go over the real vault with a little trampoline thing. i had help the first and second times i did it and then i was able to do it all on my own!

I worked together with others because i got help going over the vault and also i was asking people questions if i was doing stuff right and also other people were showing me how to do different things

I also developed new skills because I'm starting to learn how to do a back tuck and that is brand new!

This tuesday we played Sandwich in sandwich. it was fun. i got a lot of playing time and im getting in better shape so playing is getting easier and easier with every game that i get into better shape. we won by one the final score was 6 to 5

Thursday june 25

Thursday we played against barnstable again, but this time we lost. I think that we lost because of the people who weren't there that day were all of the best players that were mainly the forwards so we didn't have any goal scores... but we still had fun and i almost got a goal!

2 because i was planing on doing this with rachel crafts from Sturgis but i don't think that she is really going to keep on doing it. so I'm doing it all on my own.

Soccer June 18 2009

Last Thursday We played Orleans, this was fun, i was in better shape, i could feel it already, i wasn't in complete pain the next day from working out so much which was really good! Another good thing about playing orleans is that when we play them I'm playing my old assistant coach. That was fun he remembered who i was and my name even though he hasn't been the assistant coach in a few year. We ended up wining 7 to 3. I played for DY this time and there was one sub so i still go a ton of playing time but i did get subs- I'm one of the lowest level players on the team but its still really fun to play

5 because i came back even though the first game that i went to was really hard and i was really soar the next day.

8 because i am getting stronger and more in shape and when im getting more in shape it allows me to focus more on soccer and not have the issue of having to run to the ball.

First Soccer Game

On Tuesday June 16, we played Barnstable. This was my first time playing in this league. For this game barnstable didn't have enough players so Rachel, Kelly, and I all volunteered to play for the other team. We got the win because Barnstable had to forfeit the game, but DY did win anyway. It was really fun. I played for just about the whole game. It was a lot harder than i thought that it would be because we played 2 45 minute half. Im used to playing 2 35 minute half not in the summer when its really warm. Also when i play for the school we have subs so when you get tired you can get a sub. also the level of play in this league is a lot higher than I'm used to. so its really hard. but i forgot how much fun soccer is so I'm really enjoying playing!

I undertook new challenges because i have never played in this league before so I'm undertaking new challenges and also, is a new level of play so its definitely undertaking new challenges.

I'm working with others also because I'm on a team.

This week at gymnastics I learned how to do a front layout. That is developing new skills because i learned something new. A front layout is a front flip but you are straight in the air like a pencil. I have increased awareness of my strengths because i know that I can now do that, and it was hard, and lastly i undertook new challenges because i had never done that before.

Tennis May 27

This has been a good week at tennis so far but now tennis is over so I have a lot of free time. This week i covered that i took on new chalanges because we went to states for the first week ever so that was a new chalange and also a new chalange would be that the states mathch was right after prom and after prom so i was really tired and i have never played with that little sleep before.

I showed commintemnt because i went to the game and i was really tired and i didn't want to go, and that comminment because i went.

Lasly i am going to be captain next year which is exciting.

Were going to STATES!!!!!!

this was a good week in tennis, we found out that were going to states!!! which is really exciting. we made it to states with 2 or three more matches to play which mean if we win those matches we have a chance of going onto the second round which would be AMAZING!!! we are the second girls team to make it (girls soccer was the first-that was fun also) now tennis!

4 because I'm on a team so i have to be working together with others

5 because this season I've been really stressed out with school and i have been thinking of dropping tennis to give me some more time, but i keep going back to it, because its fun and i enjoy it so its showing my commitment to my team!

almost getting a pullover

This week at gymnastics was fun, i worked on bars for just about the whole time. I am so close to getting a pullover. I really want to get it, what it is where you pull yourself over the bar so that you are ontop of it. It sounds easy and looks easy but its not. I've been working on it for a while and i cant get it, but its close. I have to get my hips to the bar when i'm upside down instead of my legs.

after bars, we went to floor and did basics, which is going over basic moves, they were all dance things, like jumps and stuff, have never done that stuff before, i think that i like real tumbling better than that stuff.

1 because by almost getting a pullover, i am increasing my knoledge of my groth, everyweek i get closer to getting it.

4 becaue while i'm doing all of these i have to be working collabratly with others, sharing the bars with them, or them showing me how to do something, or them actually helping me do something.

8 because every week i am devloping new skills, a pull over and dance moves this week

New Vault

Two weeks ago at gymnastics was really fun. I did the normal things bars tumble track, and tumbling on the floor! all of the fun stuff. Then i looked over and saw some of the girls that were going over the "real" valut and i asked if i could try and Lesely said "yes!" it was really fun. at first she told me to do a flip over which i didn't because i thought that would be really scary, so i just did what everyone else was doing, like a handstand on it then flipping down. it was really fun i did it three times but then i had to go my mom was waiting.

This hits 1 because, when i learned how to do the new vault i became aware of new streghths of mine, and Lesely said that i was good at it also

2 because i tried a new vault

8, i devloped new skills becaue i have never done that vault before!

Tennis

3-22-09
This was our first week of practice, it went pretty well. I was only able to go to 2 of the practices though because i was sick for the first 2 days of the week and there was no practice on Thursday. But the other two days went really well, I did a lot better than i thought that i would saying that i haven't played since last season. I did wish that i did better on Friday because we are starting to figure out who is going to play where so we were having little matches, and i lost both of mine and i should have been able to win at least one. But it was my fault that morning i had forgotten to pack my tennis shoes, so i was wearing somebody elses that were way too small so i also got blisters on both of my feet. but they will go away by monday and hopefully i can play her again and beat her.

3-29-09

this was my second week of tennis, and last week i was not able to go to all of the practices because i was still sick but i'm feeling better now. well kind of anyway, so i hope that i will be able to go to more of the practices next week. but on friday i played a match against thrid singles player and i beat her, it was fun. i haven't really played for real since last season.


4-4-09

This was a good week in tennis also. we had our first match on Wednesday and I won, our team won also. I had to go to three sets, I won the first one 6-1 lost the second one 4-6 and then won the last one 6-2. It was a good game! I am looking forward to practice on Monday again.

4-11-09

This was an ok week at tennis. just ok because we had a match and i won the game for the team which was really fun. but it wasn't so good because I hurt my ankle while playing. I had to finish the match because we needed to win the match.

5-04-09

last week was good at tennis. We played chatam. the whole team won but me. but i could have beat the girl that i was playing, but also chatam cheated. they played switched their first and second singles players to with the second singles (me) and then hopefully win the two doubles. the only thing that went according to plan was beating me, which i guess in the long run is a good thing. we might be going to states also which is really exciting! we just have to keep at 500 for the rest of the season which look possible!!!

Gymnastics before the Blog

Justification--

I am going to be doing gymnastics because i have always wanted to do it. Since watching the Olympics this summer i really wanted to. I really want to be able to do cool tricks and mainly do flips. I think that would be fun because I have always wanted to do a flip. I also want to learn how to do cool tricks on each of the apparatus.

For Goals that I have, I want to be able to do tricks. First I want to learn how to do a back handspring and a back flip. I have no idea if that will be possible becks I don't know how long the trick take to learn.I also want to be able to do a handstand on the beam, for the bars I want to be able to get up onto them, and lastly for vault I want to be able to do a flip on that.
My Learning objectives are Plan and inaciate activity, this applies because I was the one who planned this I will be doing it with two friends. My other learning objective is Increased awareness of my strenght and areas for growth. This applys because i have only done gymnastics when i was really little so i forget everything. I will be getting stronger physically and also mentally by learning my strenghts and weakness.

I started Gymnastics on 2 Thursdays ago and it is so much fun. I really enjoy it except for the fact that it is really hard work and still 2 days after my legs still really hurt to the point that i avoid going down stairs as often as possible. The fist time that i went Lauren was with me also but the second time she was sick so she didn't go and i was all by my self which was scary at first because i didn't know anybody but after a while it was fine. Every one there is so nice!

The first Thursday was the most fun because i had a Friend and also because we did stuff on the bars. like cast handstands which are fun, and other things on the bars. 2 days ago was fun but it was all conditioning and those girls go everyday for 3 hours a lot stronger than me so it was really hard. I'm really excited for next Thursday because i talked to Jen and she said that i can come an hour later so i wont be there for the conditioning stuff but i will be there for the actual gymnastics so i will be able to learn how to do a flip and stuff! I can't wait!

This is me at gymnastics yesterday doing a handstand thing and then going down into a bridge it is really hard to do and i was able to do it on my third day of gymnastics while the instructor told me that it normally takes gymnasts 6 months to learn.

This is me at gymnastics on Thursday. I learned how to do a front handspring thing. That is were you would bounce on one of the white lines then put you hands on the mat then flip over to land on your feet. It was really fun and i learned how to do it!

1-11-09

(Sorry I didn't update for 2 weeks because i was not going to gymnastics, i go on thursdays and the past two thursdays were christmas and new years)


On Thursday at gymnastics first i went to Bars and worked on some of the basics, I had thought that i would really like bars but that changed when my hand riped open. It really hurts!


But another thing was that meant that i could go over to beam (which i kind of like) they were working on handstands and cartwheels on the beam. I can not do thoese really on the ground so i was just doing handstads and such on the ground which allowed me to master that handstand down to a bridge that i had been working on before. Then i went to the tumble track (a really long tramplone) and worked on front handsprings again but this time with out the mats at the end!

My mom has been the one taking these pictures and i guess that it is really hard to get a good picture.

I didn't go last thursay because I had to go to a funeral. I will go on this thursday though

2-08-09
This Thursday I learned how to do a "tick-tock" (I think that's what its called) I wasn't able to do it like the other girls there but thats just because they are a lot better than me. What it is is when you go into a handstand touch you foot to the floor or in my case the mat that is like a foot or 2 up in the air then kick back down to standing up. Its really hard but its fun.
Another thing that I did was standing up and then into a bridge, thats where your feet and hands are on ground and you back is towards the ground so you are like a bridge. Again I did it onto a mat because i'm not as expereinced as the other girls.
Another thing that i did was another handstand thing. on this little tramploine you jump and then do a handstand on a mats that are like 3 or 4 feet high then you jump bcakwards into the foam pit. it was really fun.
The last thing that I did was handstands and cartwheels on the beam. That is really hard because the beam is just 4 in wide. I was kind of able to do handstands but thats it, not cart wheels becaue i cant do those in a stright line. But i was kind of successuful at a handstand but i was not up all the way at 90 degerees probably like 45 or 50.
Before i left the people who are teaching me were saying that i was good, and were suprised at how fast i was doing things becasue i guess that its harder to do when your tall and i'm really tall, and also its harder to learn when your not like 3.

This was me yesterday at gymnastics. I worked on my flip again. it was fun. I also did vault which was really fun.

2-26-09
Yesterday at gymnastics was fun! I learned how to do a flip on the tumble track! thats fun and i also got better at doing front handsprings which are really fun! The other two things that i did was handstands and jumping on the beam. Thats hard stuff! Then they put this fat beam on the ground for me to do more handstands and cartwheels. I can kind of do a handstnad but cartwheels are really hard for me becaue i don't go stright. after that i went to vault and did vaults again which are really fun you jump then do a handstand then land on your back. its fun. I can't wait till next thrusday!

3-9-09
At gymnastics last Thursday i worked a lot on my flips. there is a trampoline and then a tumble track, the tumble track is still really bouncy but not as bouncy as the trampoline. I worked on my flip on the tumble track. I was able to land it standing up with straight legs for the most part. (stright locked legs are bad becaue you can hurt your knees...)
also i worked on vault a little and then i worked on the bars a little after that. I don't like that bars becaue i get really bad blisters on my hands.

3-15-09
On thursday i had gymnastics, and i worked on my flips and front handstands again. I'm getting pretty good or atleast i think so. I land my flip most of the time now and the same with my front handspring. i also asked if i can start to learn a back handspring. and they said yes so i started to do some drills to get that. I also worked on the bars a little bit and a fun drill on the floor which i think was to make your vault better and also one for front handsprings. they were both fun.
Lastly i asked if it would be possible for me to start to come on the weekend due to tennis starting, they said yes but the setup would be really different and i really like how it is now so i am going to keep on trying to come on thrusdays and if there is one that i can't make it to then i will go one the weekends.
3-20-09
Yesterday at gymnastics was really fun! I worked with the prep up girls again. And i like doing that i do that every week though. I am starting to make firends there becaue they are starting to know who i am. Yesterday i worked on the bars and tried to get a pull over which is a way to get ontop of the bar kind of, and i also worked on tap swing which is swinging on the bar just for fun!
then i went to the tramploine and worked on my front tuck which is a front flip. They said that i was really good at it and said that i did it perfict! Then they taught me how to do front bounders which are like front handsprings but by jumping not running. thoses are really fun too! then i did thoses on the tumble track!
I'm looking forward to next week now!

3-29-09
On thursday I went to gymnastics and it was fun. I did all four events i think. i didn't do floor but i did tumbling on the tumble track and on the tramploine. I have masted a front handspring, front flip and front bounders, i think anyway. I think that i have gotten really good at them. I want to learn how to do something else now. I went to the bars and started working a pullover thing, its really hard. then i went to ballance beam and started to do cartwhels and handstands again.i can kind of do a handstand not really though and my cartwheel is bad, i can't do it on the floor so i can't do it on the beam. then i went to tumble track and tramploine and worked more of the flips and that kind of stuff.

4-4-09
Thursday was fun. I really am starting to get to know the other girls there which makes it even more fun. I worked on my front tucks front bounders, front handsprings. I also was able also learn how to do a back bend from standing up. its really hard. One other thing was that our warm up was runing the diagonals on the floor and on end doing a front handspring off of two chese mats and a mini tramp and on the other diagonal you do a front tuck off of a spring board. at the end of practice i was working on cart wheels and roundoffs.

I did not go to gymnastics this week because I hurt my ankle during tennis this week.

5-04-09
This was the first week back at gymnastics in a while. it was fun. i worked out with the older girls again which was fun. I work on the tumble track on my front tuck, front handspring, and front bounders. then we went to bars, were i worked on my pullover, which i still can't do but i'm getting close. then we went to floor where i worked more on my cartwheel. it was fun. i'm looking forward to next week.
